GDPR 2018 Compliance

NMH Solicitors Ltd collects and holds personal data in accordance with the SRA rules and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into force on 25 May 2018. We will only ever collect information which is relevant to each individual case, for example, name, date of birth, contact details including home address, and confidential reference numbers. The information collected will only be used to administer the services requested of us; details of which will be set out in our service agreement which clients are required to sign before any work can begin on their case.

The personal data collected will only be used for the sole purpose of acting on your behalf in accordance with our mutual signed agreement and which constitutes a legitimate interest. This means that the terms of our usage of your personal information are regulated by our signed contract agreements with each individual client, and that our usage of the information will extend only to reasonable applications necessary to provide the services requested of us.

During the course of providing legal services, we may need to share your information with other relevant parties, for example: courts and governing bodies, third party companies and organisations, and medical professionals. All clients will be duly informed and have consent taken before we share your information with any third parties.

Please note that all clients will be consulted before any such action is undertaken and that in some cases, we will require written agreement to share your personal information.

You have the right to request that your personal information is not used, and/or that we destroy any personal information we hold. However, this may result in us being unable to continue with your case and subsequently closing your account with our firm.

We will never pass your information on to third parties for marketing purposes.

Any information kept by NMH Solicitors Ltd will be kept securely in individual client files in hard copies and electronic format at our registered offices, as well as cloud storage. Your information will be retained for 6 years in your account file, after which your information is liable to be destroyed.

Clients have the right to request a copy of any information held by NMH Solicitors Ltd for themselves, or to be passed on to a third party. Such requests must be made in accordance with the client agreement. Clients have the right to request their personal data at any time. Information held by NMH Solicitors Ltd can be requested in hard copy or electronic format.
